Being a bit of a petrol head, when we set out to buy our family car, we took almost a year, and test drove everything we could. A few cars came close, but every single one had a core bad point, that just didn’t work for me. Somehow in my search, I forgot a bit about Subaru, and when my dad asked what I thought of the Subaru XV, I was a bit embarrassed. I immediately fixed this error on my behalf by test driving the new Eyesight version of the XV, and that was it. I was initially, like everyone, wary of a CVT gearbox, but what a gearbox… Want to cruise in comfort, use auto. Want to have more control and fun? Use the paddles. I had to take my Fiesta ST out yesterday for the first time in months, just to check the tires and let it run for a bit and not sit in the garage all the time, because every time I have to leave the house, I grab the XV’s keys.
